Event Description
College vs Cancer presents: Catfight, a stand-up comedy competition between Columbia and NYU, featuring comedy from Malik Elassal of FX’s Adults!
Doors open at 8 and show starts at 8:30, and will run for about an hour. The show is in the Roone Arledge Cinema on the second floor of Lerner Hall, on Columbia’s campus. Non-Columbia affiliates can enter through the doors on Broadway. Please have your ticket information ready when you arrive.
Bobcat vs Roar-Ee. Astor Place vs. Morningside Heights. No football team vs bad football team. The long, storied rivalry between Manhattan's most annoying universities has been reignited for Catfight, in which each school will send their funniest students to compete on stage---not just for bragging rights, but also to raise money for essential young adult cancer research.
Three students from each university (representing Memento Mori stand-up club from Columbia and the Astor Place Riots from NYU) will perform, followed by headlining comic Malik Elassal (FX’s Adults). The winning school will be determined by audience vote.
Ticket funds will be donated towards cancer research facilities at both Columbia and NYU.
Cancer is the leading disease-related cause of death among adolescents and young adults, yet research on this age group remains dramatically underfunded. College vs Cancer channels student-led events—comedy shows, sports tournaments, and more—into raising awareness and funding research on why cancer rates are rising in young people and how to beat it.
Come show up to laugh, support your school, and contribute to life-changing research for young adults with cancer. See you there.
